On July 13, 1998, 24-year-old Jesus Frailes Rosales was reported missing in Yuma, Arizona. Known affectionately as "Chuy" to his family and friends, Jesus was last seen around 10 p.m. at a residence near 5th Avenue and 16th Street. He had driven to the location but left his vehicle and pager behind, suggesting he departed either on foot or with someone else. This sudden and uncharacteristic disappearance left his loved ones deeply concerned.
A Grim Discovery Across the Border
The following day, July 14, 1998, Mexican authorities discovered Jesus's lifeless body just across the border. He had been shot twice—once in the arm and once in the chest. Despite the proximity of the crime scene to Yuma, it took nearly two months for Mexican officials to relay information about the murder to the Yuma Police Department (YPD) through another law enforcement agency.
