A Tragic Loss in the Austin Community

On January 16, 2017, the Austin neighborhood on Chicago's West Side was shaken by the tragic death of 24-year-old Allante J. Elmore. At approximately 11:36 a.m., while standing on the porch near his residence in the 4800 block of West Hubbard Street, a vehicle approached, and an unknown assailant opened fire, striking Elmore multiple times. He was rushed to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. This incident was part of a violent Martin Luther King Jr. Day weekend in Chicago, during which at least 39 individuals were shot, 10 of them fatally.

Described by those who knew him as a joyful individual who loved to laugh, play, and spend time with his dogs, Allante's untimely death left a void in the hearts of his family and friends.
