A Tragic Loss in the Austin Community

On January 16, 2017, the Austin neighborhood on Chicago's West Side was shaken by the tragic death of 24-year-old Allante J. Elmore. At approximately 11:36 a.m., while standing on the porch near his residence in the 4800 block of West Hubbard Street, a vehicle approached, and an unknown assailant opened fire, striking Elmore multiple times. He was rushed to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. This incident was part of a violent Martin Luther King Jr. Day weekend in Chicago, during which at least 39 individuals were shot, 10 of them fatally.

Remembering Allante J. Elmore

Described by those who knew him as a joyful individual who loved to laugh, play, and spend time with his dogs, Allante's untimely death left a void in the hearts of his family and friends. He attended Henry H. Nash and Marshall High School and was employed at Hidden Valleys and Staffmark.
