A Tragic Night in Auburn Gresham
On the evening of June 24, 2016, the Auburn Gresham neighborhood on Chicago's South Side was the scene of a devastating event. At approximately 10 p.m., 26-year-old Reginald L. Turner was on the street in the 7700 block of South Sangamon when an unidentified assailant approached and shot him in the head. Authorities pronounced Turner dead at the scene at 11:17 p.m.
A Community in Mourning
Turner's untimely death resonated deeply within his community. Friends and family remember him as a funny and loving individual, with some affectionately referring to him by nicknames such as "Smiley" and "Boo Man."
