A Tragic Evening in Long Beach
On the evening of March 24, 2014, the tranquility of Long Beach was shattered by a heinous crime. At approximately 7:50 p.m., police were dispatched to the vicinity of 7th Street and Cerritos Avenue following reports of an unknown disturbance, possibly involving a deadly weapon. Upon arrival, officers discovered that a robbery had taken place at a liquor store in the 1100 block of East 7th Street. The store's owner, 53-year-old Felix Avelar Duran, had been grievously wounded, sustaining a gunshot to his upper torso.
The Immediate Aftermath
Paramedics from the Long Beach Fire Department promptly transported Mr. Duran to a nearby hospital, where he was listed in critical condition. Due to the severity of his injuries, homicide detectives were summoned to the scene that night.
