Location: Sandbar on Des Moines River near Carlisle Road Des Moines, IA, near the Des Moines Sewage Treatment Plant.
On 09/23/2023 a fishermen located a skull on a sandbar, he called 911 Des Moines PD officers and Polk County Medical Examiner responded to scene. A human rib was found during a search of the area around where the skull was found. No other human remains were found.
