September 8, 1980 a US Coast Guard Aircraft observed five bodies floating in the ocean near a submerged sunken vessel on the east side of Santaren Channel. The bodies were floating in water 25-40 miles from Anguilla Key, Bahama Banks. Upon Coast Guard arrival on scene, they retrieved all 5 bodies including a sixth body.
