Of the two identified victims, both were determined to have been last seen in the Bessemer, AL area. One identified victim was a hitchhiker, not a resident of Bessemer. This victim was never identified despite extensive investigation and media coverage in 1979, leading to belief that she may have also been a hitchhiker or prostitute from another area.
