On the afternoon of December 31, 2016, a routine patrol conducted by Border Patrol Agents led to the somber discovery of a body in the Tijuana River bed near San Ysidro, California. The agents, patrolling the area on all-terrain vehicles, noticed a figure lying face down in the mud and immediately contacted the San Diego Police Department for further investigation.
