On July 21, 2020, the remains of Emma L. Brooks, an unclaimed individual, were discovered in Newport, Tennessee. Despite efforts to locate her next of kin, no family members came forward to arrange funeral proceedings for Brooks. Consequently, the county took the responsibility of handling her cremation.
