On January 3, 2019, the body of a 63-year-old male, Jerry Spicer, was discovered on McNeil Island, Washington. Jerry Spicer was an inmate at the McNeil Island Special Commitment Center, a facility dedicated to the civil commitment of sex offenders. He was embroiled in an altercation with another inmate, an incident that led to severe injuries necessitating his transfer to Madigan Army Medical Center. Despite efforts made by medical personnel, Spicer was pronounced dead at the hospital.
