On November 10, 2014, the body of a 71-year-old male, identified as Gordon E. Coe, was discovered in Orting, Washington. The death was deemed to be from natural causes and had occurred at Good Samaritan Hospital. Subsequently, the Pierce County Medical Examiner's Office (PCMEO) took charge of the case, which was registered with the agency case number 14-1683 and the Namus ID: UCP5413.
Efforts were made by the PCMEO to locate any next-of-kin or family members of the deceased, but despite an extensive search, no relatives were found. This lack of connection to any family members led to the decision to send the decedent’s remains to a rotation funeral home, a choice often made when there is no immediate family to claim a body. At this funeral home, Gordon Coe was cremated, and his cremains were returned to the PCMEO for safekeeping.
In a turn of events, it was later discovered that Gordon E. Coe had pre-arrangements with Mt. View Funeral Home. With this new information, arrangements were made, and on December 2, 2014, the cremains were released to Mt. View Funeral Home. These pre-arrangements provided a final resting place for Mr. Coe, resolving the issue of the unclaimed remains.
