On January 3, 2017, the body of 84-year-old Dean A. Studeman was discovered at the Old Soldier's Home in Orting, Washington. The Pierce County Medical Examiner's Office (PCMEO) was tasked with handling the case, referenced under Agency Case Number 17-0186. Mr. Studeman's death was determined to have resulted from natural causes, and, unfortunately, he did not appear to have any known family members to claim him.
The PCMEO conducted a thorough investigation to locate any potential relatives. However, despite their diligently performed search, no family was found to take responsibility for Mr. Studeman. Without any available next of kin, the PCMEO made arrangements for his remains to be handled with care and respect. Following established procedures for such cases, the decedent was transferred to a rotating funeral home partnered with the office.
After the necessary processes were completed, Mr. Studeman's body was cremated, and his cremated remains were respectfully returned to the custody of the PCMEO.
