On April 28, 2026, the body of an unidentified male, later assigned the Namus ID UCP161957, was discovered in National City, California. The individual was later identified as Jose Antonio Rangel Saavedra. Prior to his death, it appeared that Mr. Saavedra was experiencing homelessness. In a moment of desperation, he reached out to a nearby bystander, hoping they would call for emergency assistance.
