On December 4, 2025, the body of an unhoused male, identified as Pete Leent Smith, was discovered by a Cal Trans crew in an encampment near a freeway entrance in Los Angeles, California. Despite immediate efforts to seek medical assistance, he was pronounced dead shortly after emergency services were contacted. The cause of death has been listed as natural causes.
