On February 12, 2018, the body of Melanie J. Bailey was discovered in DeSoto, Texas. She was subsequently pronounced deceased in Dallas, and her case was entered into the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System under the ID UCP146501. Despite initial efforts, authorities have been unable to locate and confirm any known next of kin.
