On January 14, 2025, a friend of Anicito Pena made a routine visit to drop off food at his residence in Baldwin Park, California. Personnel from the Los Angeles County Fire Department arrived at the scene and entered the residence, which was unlocked. Inside, they found Pena lying supine on his bed, unresponsive. Despite their efforts, it was determined that he had passed away. At 2:12 PM on the same day, officials pronounced his death.

As of now, Pena remains an unclaimed person, listed in the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System under ID UCP142791.
