On January 14, 2025, a friend of Anicito Pena made a routine visit to drop off food at his residence in Baldwin Park, California. However, no one came to the door, raising concerns about his well-being. Four days later, on January 18, 2025, the same friend, unable to reach Pena, requested a welfare check and called emergency services.
