In late October 2023, the Fresno Police Department was alerted to a deceased individual found in a downtown Fresno alleyway, specifically at the intersection of Kern Street and China Alley. The discovery was made on October 26, when city officials encountered the body of a male laying on his side, partially covered by a blanket, giving the appearance that he was merely asleep. Authorities initially struggled to identify him, as no personal identification was found on his person.
