On February 12, 2016, in Everett, Washington, the body of Pavel V. Zhuk was discovered in his apartment following a distress call to 911 regarding a fire in the building. The source of the fire was traced to a deep fryer in Pavel's kitchen, which had ignited and spread quickly. Emergency responders found Pavel in an adjacent room, near a window, indicating he might have been seeking escape or fresh air as the smoke and flames overwhelmed his residence.
