On September 6, 2007, the Charleston County Coroner's Office was notified by the Charleston City Police Department of the death of a homeless man at Ansonborough Field in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. The deceased, later identified as 64-year-old Edward Francis Dwyer, was last seen alive by a friend around 8:30 a.m. that day. The friend recalled that Mr. Dwyer had asked to be left alone.
