On June 16, 2017, during a routine patrol, personnel from the United States Border Patrol discovered the mummified remains of a male body and a backpack near Sasabe, Arizona. The remains were later identified through fingerprint analysis as belonging to Jose Antonio Morales-Nambo. His identification was corroborated by the Mexican Consulate, which confirmed his full name as Jose Morales Nambo, a Mexican national. However, efforts are ongoing to locate and notify the next of kin.
