In the early morning hours of November 7, 2023, the body of 55-year-old Terrance Taylor, a male, was discovered in an alley in the 3200 block of Oregon Avenue in the Benton Park West neighborhood of St. Louis. First responders were called to the scene at approximately 2:17 a.m. regarding a body on fire. After extinguishing several small fires, they found Taylor deceased.
The St.
Louis Metropolitan Police Department quickly deemed the death intentional and launched a homicide investigation. The Bomb and Arson Unit was also called to the scene to assist. Authorities have been exploring a possible link between Taylor's death and that of another individual who was found shot and burned in the Columbia Bottom Conservation Area around the same time. As of late 2023, police had not publicly identified any suspects or made any arrests in connection with Taylor's death. The investigation remains ongoing, and officials have encouraged anyone with information to contact the Homicide Division or CrimeStoppers.
In a separate and unrelated case, 21-year-old Terrance Taylor was fatally shot on June 5, 2022. The incident occurred just before 8 p.m. near a playground in the 2900 block of Canfield Drive in Ferguson, a suburb of St. Louis. Officers from the Ferguson Police Department responded to reports of a large disturbance and multiple gunshots in the area.
Upon arrival, they found a chaotic scene with several people yelling outside an apartment complex. Witnesses informed the police that a man had been shot near the playground. Taylor, who resided in the 1400 block of Midland Boulevard in University City, had already been transported to a local hospital by private vehicle before law enforcement arrived. He later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. At the time of the initial reports, no information about a suspect or any arrests had been released to the public.
