On Wednesday, August 31, 2022, law enforcement officials in Lebanon, Missouri, initiated a homicide investigation following a deadly shooting incident at a local residence. Officers from the Lebanon Police Department were dispatched to a home located in the 1100 block of West Elm Street, where they discovered a male victim who had sustained fatal injuries. The victim was identified as 45-year-old Bobby Joe Langston.
Despite the response from emergency personnel, Langston lost his life as a result of the violence that occurred that day.
In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, investigators quickly identified a suspect connected to the death. Police arrested 33-year-old Kevin James Ash, a Lebanon resident who was revealed to be the stepbrother of the victim. The investigation suggested the incident was domestic in nature, occurring within the home they were associated with. Following his apprehension, Ash was transported to the Laclede County Jail, where he was ordered to be held without bond pending further legal proceedings.
Prosecutors subsequently filed formal charges against Ash in relation to Langston's death. He faced a felony charge of second-degree murder as well as a charge for armed criminal action. Authorities scheduled his initial arraignment at the Laclede County Courthouse shortly after the arrest, marking the beginning of the judicial process regarding the violent event that claimed Langston's life.
