City Marshal Joseph Fishback, Sr. of Cannelton, Indiana, tragically lost his life on November 7, 1900, following a violent altercation that occurred on Election Day, November 6, 1900. The incident began when a man threatened Marshal Fishback's brother for refusing to vote. The man, angered by the refusal, went home to retrieve a revolver and returned with the intent to confront Fishback's brother.
