Master Trooper David Edward Rich, aged 41, tragically lost his life on July 5, 2007, near Wabash, Indiana. Rich, a dedicated member of the Indiana State Police, was on his way home in plainclothes and driving an unmarked squad car when he encountered what appeared to be a stranded motorist on U.S. 24, one-half mile east of State Road 115.
