Raymond Green, a 62-year-old resident of Dillsboro, Indiana, was found dead on June 4, 2014. The circumstances surrounding his death were initially shrouded in mystery. On May 28, 2014, police were called to the property of Ray and his ex-wife, Danielle "Dani" Green, after Ray's mother, Betty, reported that Dani had claimed Ray was killed by their German Shepherd, Jazzy. However, when officers arrived, they found neither Ray nor the dog, and Dani's behavior raised suspicions.
