In the late hours of a cold Tuesday night in Indianapolis, the life of Wesley Collins was tragically cut short. On January 5, 2016, the 37-year-old African-American man was found with wounds consistent with a gunshot on the city's near north side, in the 3300 block of Hovey Street. The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department responded to the scene shortly after 10:30 p.m., where medics pronounced him deceased. His death marked the second homicide in the city just five days into the new year.
