In the small town of Greensburg, Indiana, the life of 44-year-old Wendy L. Sabatini, a beloved mother and grandmother, came to a tragic end on October 25, 2016. Known for her contagious laugh and love for life, she was a quality technician who enjoyed running, working out, and riding her Harley Davidson. Her world, however, was shattered in a moment of shocking violence that stemmed from a rejected marriage proposal.

On that Tuesday evening, Wendy's boyfriend, 43-year-old Jason Eaton, went to her home with an engagement ring. When she declined his proposal before he could even formally ask, his reaction was devastating. Eaton retrieved a handgun from a nightstand, moved behind where Wendy was seated on her bed, and fatally shot her in the head.

Unaware of the tragedy that had unfolded, Wendy's son returned home from a school internship to find the house quiet. He was eating dinner, believing his mother was at work, when police arrived at the residence. The grim discovery of his mother's body was made by the officers in an upstairs bedroom. Meanwhile, Jason Eaton had confessed to a friend what he had done before walking into the Greensburg Police Department and surrendering to authorities. He told the police that he had 'messed up' and believed he had killed his girlfriend.

Jason Eaton was arrested and charged with the murder of Wendy Sabatini. In the face of overwhelming evidence and his own confession, he pleaded guilty to the crime. In January 2018, Eaton was sentenced to 45 years in prison for his actions, bringing a legal conclusion to a case that had deeply affected the small community.
