In the early morning hours of June 30, 2024, 18-year-old Isaac Samuel Williams was shot and killed on the northeast side of Indianapolis. His body was discovered by police around 8 a.m. in the 3600 block of East 39th Street. Williams, who had moved to Indianapolis from Arizona just a few months prior in March for a 'fresh start,' was found with gunshot wounds and pronounced dead at the scene.
Family and friends described Williams as a 'fun loving goofy boy' who was kind, loving, and
faithful. He had recently acquired an apartment and a job, and was focused on starting his new life in Indianapolis. His sister remembered him as a 'jokester' who was devoted to his family and church. Having spent most of his life in the Phoenix area, where he played high school football, his move to Indiana was a significant step toward independence.
The investigation into the death of Isaac Williams is ongoing, and as of yet, no arrests have been made. Authorities have not publicly identified any suspects in the shooting. Neighbors reported hearing gunfire on the night of June 29th, mixed with the sound of fireworks, but Williams was not found until the following morning by a neighbor. The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is actively investigating the homicide and has asked for the public's assistance, urging anyone with information to come forward. In the wake of his death, his family has spoken out about the devastating impact of gun violence and has expressed a desire to start a nonprofit to help combat it.
