Cheryl Lynn Mann, a 65-year-old female, was tragically killed on Sunday, March 10, 2019, following a shooting in Marion, Indiana. The incident took place at the Luida Trailer Park on the southwest side of the city late on a Saturday night.
Law enforcement was dispatched to the trailer park around 11:30 p.m. and discovered both Mann and her 30-year-old grandson, Jonathan Lovell, with gunshot wounds inside a trailer.
Mann had sustained a gunshot wound to the head and was in critical condition when she was airlifted to a Fort Wayne hospital, where she ultimately passed away from her injuries. Lovell was also critically wounded, having been shot in the leg and arm, and was taken by ambulance to a hospital in Fort Wayne. A teenage boy who was sleeping inside the trailer at the time of the incident was not physically harmed.
In the days following the shooting, investigators arrested two individuals in connection with the crime. Christa Kelly, 32, who is also known as Christa Goins, and William McCarty, 32, were both taken into custody and faced murder charges for their alleged roles in Cheryl Mann's death. Police believe that the shooting was the result of a dispute that the suspects had with Mann's grandson over the weekend.
