In the early morning hours of Sunday, September 24, 2017, a dispute that began inside a west side Indianapolis nightclub tragically ended with the death of 29-year-old Terrian L. Dawson, a Black male. The altercation originated within the walls of Krave Nightclub, located in the 6400 block of West Washington Street.
As the conflict escalated, security staff intervened and moved the crowd of approximately 200 people out of the club and into the parking lot and the adjacent street. It was in the ensuing moments, just before 3:00 a.m., that the sounds of gunfire cut through the night. When the chaos subsided, Dawson had been fatally wounded, and another individual was left injured. The incident marked the second shooting to occur at that location within the same year.
Despite the initial investigation by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, the homicide of Terrian L. Dawson remains unsolved. To date, no arrests have been made, and no suspects have been publicly identified in connection with the shooting. The case continues to be an open investigation.
