A 10 year old girl is brutally murdered and left in a ditch in West Chicago, IL
On February 11, 1966, 10-year-old Debbie Fijan was brutally murdered after staying late at her West Chicago elementary school to attend a basketball game. After the game, Debbie waited for her mother to pick her up but disappeared before she arrived. Her body was discovered the next day in a frozen ditch near Lies Road, stabbed 19 times. The severity of the crime and Debbie's young age shocked the community, marking her case as one of the most tragic homicides in the area.
