In the quiet town of Jeffersonville, Indiana, a tragedy unfolded on October 17, 2022, that cut short the life of La'Aundra Owens. On that Monday morning, police responded to reports of multiple shots fired in the 2000 block of Paddle Wheel Court. Arriving at the scene, officers discovered Owens inside a vehicle in the parking lot, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency medical services were called, but Owens succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
The investigation that followed painted a grim picture of the events leading to her death. Detectives described the scene as having been subjected to a 'barrage of gunfire,' with nearly 30 rounds fired. It was determined that the vehicle Owens occupied was the primary target of the attack. Investigators also learned that another individual had been in the car with Owens but managed to flee just before the shooting began. The investigation revealed that Owens was an unintended victim, caught in the crossfire of a feud involving her boyfriend and the assailants.
Within a couple of months, the investigation led to the arrests of two men from Louisville, Kentucky. Le'Shawndre T. Osborne, 25, and Quintez Parr, 26, were taken into custody in connection with the fatal shooting. The two men faced a host of serious charges, including murder, attempted murder, unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, and criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon. Osborne and Parr were awaiting extradition to Indiana to face the charges brought against them.
