Luther R. Reedy, a 42-year-old night policeman in Pocahontas, Virginia, tragically lost his life on February 22, 1922. Reedy was responding to reports of a domestic disturbance when he was ambushed and shot in the chest with a shotgun. The suspect had previously threatened to kill any officer who attempted to arrest him. As Reedy approached the suspect's home through a dark alley, he was fatally shot and died instantly.
