Bernard Shiflett, aged 35, tragically died on June 3, 1931, in Millboro---Nimrod, Virginia. His death was the result of a fatal duel with Manuel Morris. The inquest testimony, held on June 3, 1931, at the home of Genus Morris, provided a detailed account of the tragic event. The duel, which took place at the head of Bacon Hollow, resulted in the deaths of both Morris and Shiflett.
