Robert Bunyan Sheppard, a 29-year-old constable from Stuart, Virginia, tragically lost his life on December 11, 1932. Constable Sheppard was shot and killed while attempting to stop a stolen car along with the town sergeant of Stuart, Virginia. The car had been confiscated during a prohibition investigation and was stolen from the county garage the previous night.
