In the quiet community of Falls Church, Virginia, a tragedy unfolded that cut short the life of Lakshmi Bhat, a 62-year-old woman of Indian descent. Responders from the Fairfax County Police Department arrived at the 21st-floor apartment to find a devastating domestic incident had taken
place. Lakshmi Bhat had been fatally shot by her 36-year-old son-in-law, Anand Venkata. After taking his mother-in-law's life, Venkata then turned the weapon on himself, ending his own life and closing the circle of violence within the residence.
