On a summer afternoon in Gordonsville, Virginia, a dispute over property escalated into a fatal encounter that ended the life of 40-year-old Clyde Johnson III. On June 29, 2014, Johnson was found in his vehicle on Carter Winkey Road, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Despite the efforts of responding deputies from the Orange County Sheriff's Office and emergency medical services, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
