Shirley Zhou, aged 48, tragically died on January 27, 2017, in McLean, Virginia. Her death was part of a harrowing incident that also claimed the lives of her 16-year-old son, James Wenjie Chen, and her 52-year-old husband, Hong Chen. The Fairfax County Police Department determined that the deaths were the result of a double murder-suicide. According to the investigation, Hong Chen fatally shot his wife and son before taking his own life.
