In the late afternoon of September 4, 2017, a tragedy unfolded at a Wendy's restaurant inside a Pilot Travel Center in Disputanta, Virginia, resulting in the death of 20-year-old Coron Bond. The young man was fatally shot in an incident that stemmed from a workplace dispute involving his girlfriend and another employee.
