In the quiet community of Gloucester Point, Virginia, a tragic event unfolded on the night of December 11, 2017, ending the life of 29-year-old Helga Marie Frost. What began as a plan to commit a robbery escalated into a double homicide, leaving a lasting impact on the community and the families of the victims. Helga, a female sales associate at a Verizon store, was fatally shot inside her home on Bellehaven Drive.
Another woman, Eleni Gabrielle Wright-Bonnette, 24, was also shot during the incident and later died from her injuries.
The investigation into the double homicide led to the arrests of three individuals: Kenneth Ray Miller, Amanda Kathryn Epps, and Charley L. Riley. Investigators determined that the trio had driven to the victims' home with the intent to commit a robbery. Miller, who had obtained a handgun from Riley, and Epps both reportedly knew a robbery was planned and that the gun would be used to intimidate the victims.
Kenneth Ray Miller was charged with two counts of first-degree murder, two counts of robbery, and two counts of using a firearm in the commission of a felony. Amanda Kathryn Epps, who drove the vehicle to the victims' home, was also charged with two counts of first-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. She later pleaded guilty to two counts of felony homicide and use of a firearm. Epps received an active sentence of 23 years.
The third individual, Charley L. Riley, faced charges for his involvement. Riley pleaded guilty to two felony counts of being an accessory after the fact to first-degree murder. His plea agreement came with a potential sentence of up to five years of incarceration for each count.
