In the early morning hours of December 22, 2019, the life of 32-year-old Montrail Stringfield was tragically cut short in his Wakefield, Virginia, home. A Black male, Stringfield was fatally shot after two men forcibly entered his residence at approximately 3:30 a.m.. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The assailants, described as two Black males with their faces covered, fled the scene in a medium to dark-colored sedan driven by a third individual.
One of the men was reportedly wearing a red puffy vest, while the other was dressed in dark clothing. The Sussex County Sheriff's Office has been leading the investigation into the homicide.
Despite receiving multiple tips from the community, the investigation has yielded only one credible lead, and authorities are continuing to seek assistance from the public. To date, no arrests have been made in connection with Montrail Stringfield's murder, and no suspects have been publicly identified. The case remains an active and ongoing investigation as law enforcement continues to piece together the events of that fatal morning.
