On a tragic day in February 2020, the lives of two young people were cut short. Eighteen-year-old Ayanna Munne Maertens Griffin and her twenty-one-year-old boyfriend, Ntombo Joel Bianda, were found deceased on the morning of February 8th. Their bodies were discovered in the median of U.S. Route 58 in a rural area of Halifax County, Virginia, near the town of Turbeville. Both had been fatally shot.
