In the quiet community of Alton, Virginia, a tragedy unfolded on June 7, 2022, leaving neighbors in shock. On that Tuesday afternoon, deputies from the Halifax County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to a residence on Mount Carmel Road around 1:40 p.m. Inside the home, they discovered the bodies of 72-year-old Janette Yates and her 80-year-old husband, David Yates.
