Janette Yates, aged 72, was found dead on June 7, 2022, in Alton, Virginia, alongside her husband, David Yates, aged 80. The Halifax County Sheriff's Office responded to a call at approximately 1:40 p.m. on Mount Carmel Road, where they discovered the couple deceased inside their home. The incident was classified as a murder-suicide, with a .38 caliber revolver recovered at the scene.
