In the early morning hours of May 8, 2020, the body of 20-year-old Marcus A. Jones was discovered inside the Petersburg Sports Complex in Petersburg, Virginia. A citizen out for a walk made the grim discovery and alerted authorities. Jones, a male resident of Petersburg, was found to have sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the chest, and his death was officially ruled a homicide by the medical examiner. The tragic event occurred just three days before what would have been his 21st birthday.
