In the early morning hours of November 18, 2020, the life of 23-year-old Cruccifixio Antonio Cole-Gonzalez was tragically cut short in Pulaski, Virginia. Cole-Gonzalez, a Hispanic male, was discovered by police responding to a call about a shooting with injuries on Newbern Road at 1:33 a.m. He was found suffering from an apparent gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Born in Takoma Park, Maryland, on November 17, 1997, Cole-Gonzalez was a resident of Galax, Virginia. His death, which occurred just one day after his 23rd birthday, has been described as a result of gun violence and a 'death by force.'
In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, the Town of Pulaski Police Department stated that there was no ongoing threat to the community and that they had no persons of interest at the time. The investigation into his death was initiated by the police department in conjunction with the Virginia Medical Examiner's Office in Roanoke. Despite the passage of time, there have been no public announcements regarding any arrests or the identification of any suspects in connection with the homicide. The case officially remains under investigation, leaving a void of information for his family and community. A memorial service to celebrate his life was held on November 28, 2020, in Galax.
