On March 28, 2018, Ramon Diaz, a 47-year-old Jiu-Jitsu instructor from Cathedral City, California, was shot and killed outside his residence on Whispering Palms Trail. The incident occurred around 9:44 p.m. when Cathedral City police were dispatched to respond to a report of a shooting victim. Upon their arrival, they found Diaz suffering from gunshot wounds.
