On a tragic Tuesday afternoon, February 1, 2022, the Bridgewater College community was irrevocably shattered by a senseless act of violence that claimed the lives of two of its dedicated officers. Campus Safety Officer Vashon A. 'J.J.' Jefferson, a 48-year-old male, and his close friend and colleague, Campus Police Officer John Painter, were shot and killed while responding to a report of a suspicious individual on campus.
