In the fall of 2022, Cion Jere` Carroll, a 17-year-old Black male, had recently moved from Henrico County to the small town of Kenbridge in Lunenburg County, Virginia. His mother had sent him to live with his grandmother, hoping the quieter, rural setting would offer a safer environment. On the night of November 2, 2022, following a minor disagreement with his grandmother, Cion stepped outside her home and was never seen alive again.
