On a September morning in 1949, a Camden, New Jersey neighborhood was shattered by a sudden and shocking act of violence. Among the victims of this rampage was Emma Matlack, a 68-year-old woman who found herself in the wrong place at the most unfortunate of times. She was in a car, stopped at an intersection, accompanied by her daughter, Helen Wilson, and her young grandson, John Wilson. In a matter of moments, what should have been an ordinary day turned into a scene of unimaginable horror.
