Katheryn Romberg, a 45-year-old social worker with the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services, was tragically killed on August 13, 2008, in Chicago. The incident occurred during an apparent robbery attempt. Romberg and Robert Soto, a 49-year-old off-duty Chicago police detective, were both shot while they were sitting in Soto's car in the West Humboldt Park neighborhood.
